The Root of All Evil

I chose the Pardoner’s Tale of Geoffrey Chaucer because of its unique and interesting story. The tale was all about the greediness and the stupidity of the three drunken men. At first, I find the story boring because I thought that same things will happen like they were supposed to kill the person who killed their friend just to give justice and they will be happy in the end. What I have thought was wrong! The characters were all sinners and that made me loved the story. Because of too much greed, the two drunken men thought of murdering their friend to get all the golds. It happened that their friend was planning the same thing also but in a different way. He was planning to poison his friends. Another one is that the story was so entertaining that they all ended up dying in a humorous way. Last and definitely not the least, the story was able to impart something to us that could change our lives in just a second  and one thing more we had given the chance to have knowledge about Chaucer as well as his writings.
The story made me realized that too much greed will cause you harm and more often death. Never use your hearts and minds in doing bad acts and stupid things. Imagine the three of them were friends but when they saw the bags of gold, they started to act different. They wanted to kill each other in order to get wealth! Do real friends do that? Chaucer wants us to see that wealth is just nothing compared to anything else.
Greediness is the root of all evil. The quote says that being greedy, you will be able to harm people and even violate God’s rules. Being greedy is an act of bad people and us, students shall NEVER put it in our vocabulary. Never be amazed by too much wealth. Remember that wealth is nothing compared to goodness.

The Best Thing That's Ever Been Mine

A hero as it as written in the dictionary is one noted for courage and greatness. Most people consider their parents as their hero but for me, God is my hero. Why? He chose to save us and gave His only son Jesus. As I go deeper in answering the question, I realized that sacrificing His own life for us isn’t just the reason why God is my hero but because He had touched people’s life and helped them to become a better person.
God taught me to be fearless and stay strong in times of worst. I remembered one time when I got mumps, the feeling of too much pain that made me felt that little by little I was dying. I can’t do anything but to pray. I was waiting for Him to answer but it’s not that easy. Everyday and night I asked for His forgiveness. There was a time that I lose hope and I even questioned God. I asked “There are too many people here in the world yet why God does chose me to experience this hardship?” Then I realized what my friend had said that “Everything happens for a reason”. Maybe this was just a challenge for me. God wants to know how strong my faith to Him was and He wanted to open up my heart and soul so that He can enter and help me become a better person. I woke up feeling that God had really touched my heart so deep. He healed me because He knew that no matter what challenge he brings, still I won’t give up. For I knew that He is my strength and my hero. Before I end this up, remember that anyone could be a hero as long as he or she had touched anyone’s heart and had helped him or her in pursuing to live life successfully.
